Discovering the Great Outdoors
Hammock and Hike Petit Jean State Park

With its diverse range of outdoor activities and attractions, Petit Jean State Park is the perfect place for a romantic and affordable getaway. Located on Petit Jean Mountain, the park offers stunning views of the Arkansas River Valley, waterfalls, and unique rock formations. Visitors can enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, and boating in the park’s beautiful natural surroundings. The park also features historic sites, including Mather Lodge and Cedar Falls Overlook, where you can learn about the park’s history and enjoy breathtaking views.
The Waterfall Trail is a particular favorite of mine. I recommend packing a picnic and hiking the mile down to the falls as the stunning scenery will make a perfect backdrop for your date. Grab your hammock and find a spot to cozy up in the shade along the creek, which runs along the length of the trail in the valley. The park is just over an hour drive from Little Rock, a great road trip length to chat and catch up.

There is a restaurant on site along with plenty of other hiking trails and other amenities for a romantic weekend. If you have a sweet tooth, grab pie at the Shangri-La Resort, just a 13 minute drive from Mountain Harbor, still located on Lake Ouachita.

Adventuring with New Activities
Speed on scooters in Downtown Little Rock
Cost: ~$10/hour
Scootering in Downtown Little Rock is an exciting and budget-friendly date idea that allows couples to explore the city’s vibrant culture and history. Scootering around town provides a unique opportunity to see the sights and experience the city in a new way. The Lime rental scooters have a top speed of 15 mph, which is perfect for taking a leisurely ride and soaking in the sights. Additionally, since the scooters are rented by the minute, you can customize the length of their ride and stay within their budget. Before you get started, download the app and load it up with your card to be ready to quickly unlock your scooters and get riding.
While you’re near downtown you can also take your parter to stand-up paddleboard (SUP) on the Arkansas River with sup501. It’s more pricey but still a fun and challenging activity for beginners.
